Sebastian Vettel came in for a second time during a Virtual Safety Car, a decision that eventually cost him two places and ended him in fourth place, and the German explained that the wear on his tyres was much greater than his opponents'.

Vettel was one of the few people who came in two or more times, and he had a good reason for it.

"Our tires didn't last as long as others," he explained.

"We could not trace their strategy, we had to stop, then we lost two positions from the drivers who managed to stay out.

"We also lost some time at the pit stop."

The problems don't stop there. Vettel admits that his rival Lewis Hamilton was the quicker driver today, as he pulled away from him very quickly in the early stages of the race.

"Hamilton was simply faster.

"You could see that at one point it was 2.5 seconds per lap faster.

"We simply didn't have the pace, it was obvious.

"When we stopped, things were getting better, but we were still very slow, we didn't have much choice."
