In all three free practice sessions at Paul Ricard, Sergio Perez could not get close to teammate Max Verstappen. In Q3, however, he managed to find a good time and can start the French Grand Prix from the third spot on the grid. He has a clear goal for the race: to get the best result for the team.

In the free practice sessions Perez was always a second behind teammate Max Verstappen. It was up to the Mexican to find the time. In Q1 it was not possible, but in Q2 it went better. Perez drove the fastest time in Q3 to everyone's surprise, but it was less than two tenths of a second, which led to P3 for the race on Sunday.

Difficult start

Perez said in Red Bull Racing 's post-qualifying press release that he had a difficult start to the weekend. The driver from Mexico says he is happy with the result he achieved in Q3 and can therefore compete again on Sunday. "We did some setup changes and managed to get in the rhythm of understanding the tyres"

According to the Mexican, patience, a strong start and a good tyre strategy in the heat will be the key to a good result. "It’s also very important we work together to get the best outcome for the team."
