Hamilton disgusted with fans in Austria: 'Disappointing to hear'

Lewis Hamilton is disgusted by the behaviour of the fans in Austria. Earlier on Sunday, it was revealed that female F1 fans at the Red Bull Ring had been victims of harassment.

Hamilton infuriated by fans' behaviour

Hamilton comes on Instagram with his own statement after Formula 1 had already intervened in Austria. "Disgusted and disappointed to hear that some fans are facing racist, homophobic and generally abusive behaviour at the circuit this weekend," writes the Mercedes driver.

"Attending the Austrian Grand Prix or any GP should never be a source of anxiety and pain for fans and something must be done to ensure that races are safe spaces for all," Hamilton continued.

Wrong behaviour must be reported

Hamilton himself is taking the lead in improving inclusivity and diversity in Formula 1. The seven-time world champion calls for bad behaviour of others to be reported to the security of the circuit and Formula 1 itself.
