Sergio Perez has mixed feelings after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing pulled off another one-two, but the Mexican had hoped for victory after being fast on the street circuit all weekend.

"It’s hard to know, but my pace really dropped after the cooldown, really during the virtual safety car. It was quite difficult there, and I think that’s what really caught me out. After that, when the Ferrari had the problem, we had a bad stop. It was all about bringing it home. I need to understand what happened on that first stint, especially after the virtual safety car," Perez told Viaplay.

It didn't take long for Max Verstappen to overtake his teammate. Perez was faster than the Dutchman all weekend, but during the race he still proved unable to keep up with Verstappen.

Perez not quite satisfied

Perez can certainly be satisfied with a P2, because the driver is now second in the driver's championship with only 21 points behind Verstappen. Nevertheless, the Mexican balks in front of the cameras.

"I think there was an issue with the rear right, and the other time with the rear left tyre. Not a great day, but still a P2. There are a few positives to take from today. Good start, good first stint, but we just have to make sure we are able to improve in the next races," said the Mexican.
