After the Monaco Grand Prix it was officially announced what everyone secretly knew for a long time: Sergio Perez will remain with Red Bull Racing in the coming years. The top teams are therefore 'full' in the coming years.

Competition balks

No doubt there are several drivers who resent Perez racing at Red Bull until the end of 2024. Take Fernando Alonso, who in his old age was secretly hoping for a chance at a team that competes for victory every race. Or Pierre Gasly, who has now shown himself to be Red Bull-worthy.

After his victory in Monaco, Perez already let slip that he may have re-signed too soon. Jolyon Palmer can only confirm that at F1 TV. "Because winning in Monaco would have given him more negotiating room," said the former F1 driver, who says he understands that Perez will remain linked to the Austrian racing stable for longer.

Good relationship with Verstappen

Palmer says Red Bull has captured a good driver. "They get along well, Checo and Max (Verstappen). Ferrari captured their duo, Mercedes did the same with Lewis and George Russell. The seat at Red Bull was very much in demand, and Checo has it."
