Williams was hoping to find its way up in the world championship with Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi prior to the season, but for now nothing could be further from the truth. Dave Robson, however, sees that the racing stable can start making improvements soon, although for now it remains to be seen when.

The top man at Williams states in conversation with The Race that the current car already showed many positive things. "In Monaco the car behaved pretty well. It’s still a little bit tricky with the tyres, but that’s probably the same for everyone and clearly any extra downforce you’ve got does you no harm," Robson says.

According to Robson, the team is ready to provide updates to the Albon and Latifi car, but they may be a while away. "There’s some good directions and bits that definitely would make the car faster, but we’re still just weighing up exactly when to commit that to manufacture."

Williams interest in De Vries continues to resonate

Behind the scenes, the name of Nyck de Vries as a possible successor to Latifi is still sounding. However, earlier this week the Dutchman let it be known that for the time being he is not concerned with a switch to Formula 1 and that he finds it especially important to focus on his work in Formula E.
