Internet happy for Perez after new contract: 'Gasly doesn't like this'
Last Sunday, Sergio Perez told Christian Horner in passing that he would have signed a little too early. That turns out to be about his contract because on Tuesday afternoon Red Bull Racing announced that the Mexican will be part of the team in 2023 and 2024 and will be on the F1 grid for a minimum of two years as a driver.
After Perez's slip on camera, it was mostly a matter of waiting for the news to be confirmed, yet many fans reacted enthusiastically to the news that the Mexican may continue for two more years.
Sergio Perez is exactly what Red Bull always wanted since DR departed. Someone to carry the team when Max can’t. Pierre Gasly couldn’t do that since Daniel Ricciardo and neither could Alex Albon.

It’s not an easy task, but he’s experienced and relishing. This is great news. https://t.co/tdKLdvlDJU
I see all the comments about Perez consigning himself to a No. 2 role for the next 2 seasons with his new deal. Let me just leave the worlds 'Nico Rosberg' floating around…he managed to win a title against the odds & against one of the greatest of all time. Never say never! #F1

Sergio Perez will stay at Red Bull until 2024. What an amazing 72 hours it has been for the Mexican. #F1

Vaaamooos
The contract renewal with Perez was expected even before Monaco tbh. Is Perez Redbull’s best choice? I’d argue that it isn’t. But he is RBs safest choice. Pierre redeemed himself brilliantly after getting demoted but if RB really wanted him they would have had him already.
