After qualifying, Helmut Marko stated on Austrian television that Charles Leclerc' s pole position should perhaps be taken away after he missed the weighbridge during the session and had to be rolled back by Ferrari mechanics. Kees van de Grint let it be known that he totally disagreed.

Race control ultimately did not investigate, nor did Red Bull Racing protest the result, but Marko did say to ORF, "If you punish that consistently like in the junior classes, this is a drastic penalty. He drove past them. They didn't change anything about the car, but according to the regulations it should be a penalty."

Van de Grint comments on Marko

F1 analyst Van de Grint let it be known in the program Track Talk on Viaplay that Marko, in his opinion, called out things that he himself knew would actually only mean a storm in a glass of water. Van de Grint calls the words of the Red Bull Racing advisor 'bullshit' and 'really childish'.

"I was also annoyed with Marko," said the former Bridgestone tire specialist. "He said that Leclerc should have been penalized because he had passed the scales in qualifying. That's just bullshit and really childish. This doesn't belong to mature top athletes. Then he should also just be a big guy and make a protest, but he really just wanted to play a game. I'm not a fan of that."
