Renault drivers are completely synchronised aiding development

Renault's technical officer Bob Bell believes that his drivers, Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz, are working side by side making car development “much easier”.

Sainz joined the French team midway through last season after losing his seat at Toro Rosso. This makes the 2018 season their first full year as a duo.

Hulkenberg has scored points in every race so far, whilst Sainz has managed to get inside the top 10 twice. His one race outside the top 10 was in Bahrain when he finished 11th.

“They are brilliant, those two,” Bell said after only having good words and opinion on his pairing.

“They are completely aligned about what they say about the car - and it’s not because of it’s some sort of conspiracy!

“The car has got some obvious faults which they pick up on and tell us race after race and they are completely aligned.”

The team have experienced what they believe are common issues up and down the pit-lane. But with their drivers' perfect communication and synchronised feelings, Bob Bell insists this has lead to further development.

“The drivers are great, aligned on the issues of the car and that makes our jobs much easier.”
