The McLaren team has made a shaky start to 2022. Lando Norris already scored one podium finish, but in Miami the car was unstoppable. Andreas Seidl is satisfied with the progress made by drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris in the first five Grands Prix of the season.

Norris has started the year well in person at least. So far he managed to score 35 points, good for seventh place in the world championship. At McLaren, they are happy with Norris."Lando is just continuing the line from last year. He's pushing us day and night to make the car faster."

Ricciardo experienced many problems in his first season at McLaren. The driver from Perth was constantly behind the times and could not match the speed of teammate Norris. Also this year he did not win in qualifying: on all five Saturdays Norris was faster over one lap.

"Daniel is much more comfortable in this car than in last year's," Seidl tells Jack Plooij at Ziggo Sport. "He tested well in Barcelona, but then got corona. As a result, he fell behind, but since Jeddah he has been doing super. He is close to Lando. The only thing Daniel still lacks now, and the team as well: a trouble-free weekend."

Although Ricciardo enjoys confidence internally at McLaren, the pressure on Ricciardo from outside is increasing. There are even rumors that he should fear for his future at the team if he does not perform better.
