Things were looking rosy once again in Saudi Arabia for Valtteri Bottas, who was once again gunning for points in his second race for Alfa Romeo. Those points did not come in the end, due to a problem with his Ferrari engine.

Reliability not yet good

Bottas had a strong start in Bahrain at Alfa Romeo. The Finn, who came over from Mercedes last winter, immediately scored points on his debut for the team. In Jeddah, Bottas was driving in ninth position when his Alfa Romeo experienced problems.

Bottas is disappointed that he didn't make the finish. "Now we know that the finish percentage is at about 50% this season, so that's not good. We have to work on that," he is quoted by F1.com. Bottas explained that the temperature of the engine kept rising and they did not want to lose it.

Although he is not happy with the reliability of his C42, he is happy to look at the positives: "We made another step forward from the last race, even with the start." Bottas is keen to be able to fight for the points again in Australia.

Alfa Romeo pointless out of Saudi Arabia

Like Bottas, rookie teammate Guanyu Zhou also failed to score points in Jeddah. The Chinese had a poor start to the race and lost many spots. Later, he received a five-second penalty for cutting a corner. However, the rookie didn't stand still long enough for his pit stop, adding another drive-through penalty. Zhou crossed the finish line in eleventh place.
