The GP weekend in Saudi Arabia will go ahead despite the threatening situation. Formula One has released an official statement stressing that safety can be guaranteed in Jeddah.

The choice of the FIA and the F1 organisation in Jeddah came in for a lot of criticism. The organisation is said to have succumbed to the financial reasons for allowing the weekend to go ahead and therefore not taking security seriously enough. According to many F1 experts and F1 fans, this week's missile attacks still pose a threat. To confirm that Formula 1 is closely monitoring the situation and does care about the safety of everyone involved in F1 they came out with a statement on their website.

Official declaration of Formula 1

That statement read, "Formula 1 and the FIA can confirm that following discussions with all the teams and drivers, the 2022 FIA Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will continue as scheduled.Following the widely reported incident that took place in Jeddah on Friday, there has been extensive discussion between all stakeholders, the Saudi government authorities and security agencies who have given full and detailed assurances that the event is secure."

The parties have additionally agreed to keep the dialogue clear and open during the event for possible changes in the situation. They will also keep the dialogue open to discuss the future. In all likelihood, that means taking into account the possible recurrence of this situation if F1 keeps its contract with Saudi Arabia in the coming years.
