The FIA decided to allow the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix to continue as usual despite the rocket attacks that took place in Jeddah several times this week. The teams and drivers can decide for themselves if they want to race. Helmut Marko tells how Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez stand on it.

During FP1 of the GP of Saudi Arabia, a rocket attack took place just steps away from the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The FIA and the event organizers immediately entered into discussions about the continuation of the weekend. They decided that the weekend would go ahead, but gave the teams and drivers themselves the choice to participate. The teams already seem to have decided on racing, but the drivers not yet. Red Bull Racing advisor Dr. Marko explains how Verstappen and Perez feel about it.

Verstappen relaxed, Perez a bit more anxious

At Germany's Sky Sport, the Austrian is in the paddock. Marko: "Max is relaxed, Perez is a bit anxious. But if you are used to living in Mexico City; it is not much safer there. Now we have the pandemic, a war in Europe and also a missile attack ten kilometers from here. We can't enjoy it now." Whether or not the drivers allow the race to go ahead, there is a dark cloud hanging over this weekend. And as Marko says; there is indeed less to enjoy sport in this threatening situation with these serious conditions.
