It was Singapore in 2019, Ferrari's last win. A far too long time ago for one of the leading teams in Formula 1. This year it has to happen again, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz behind the wheel. The tests were hopeful, but that could be the problem too.

Well done

It is not the first time that Ferrari seems to have things well in hand. In conversation with Motorsport-total Sainz indicates that he does not place too much value on the tests. In 2017, in 2018, in 2019; each time the Italians had fine tests behind them and it would be a year without the world title. The result is well known: Ferrari ended up standing empty-handed all those years, the Spaniard observes.

Sainz is starting his second season as a Ferrari driver. It will be a year in which he is better prepared, because he knows everyone now and that helps to get familiar with the car faster. Analyzing his test days, Sainz indicates that he feels more comfortable on the long runs with lots of fuel in the car than on the shorter runs.

No longer a favorite

Ferrari seemed to be the fastest of all the teams for five of the six test days. Only on the last day was the red team trumped by Red Bull, which, after a series of updates, opened up a sizable gap on the Italians. It makes that for many people in the paddock not Ferrari, but Red Bull is the favorite going into the first race weekend.
