Christian Horner disagrees with Lewis Hamilton that the stewards should be replaced. The Red Bull Racing team boss argues for clearer rules within Formula 1 so that there is no longer any room for any interpretation.

Lewis Hamilton was present in a press conference before getting behind the wheel of the W13 for the afternoon session at the Barcelona circuit. The Mercedes driver stated that just sending away Michael Masi is not enough and that more is needed to keep Formula 1 fair. The seven-time world champion argued that some stewards are biased because of a bond they maintain with a driver.

Hamilton gets no support from team bosses

Horner, like Toto Wolff incidentally, does not go along with this."I agree with Toto that I don't think there is any intentional bias, I'm not aware of stewards travelling with drivers to races," he told Crash.net. According to Horner, the regulations in particular need to become more unambiguous and replacing stewards does not necessarily make sense.

"You have very complicated regulations that leave room for interpretation. I think it's confusing for the fans, and even for the drivers and the teams. So what you need are clear rules that are then easier to control," said the 48-year-old British top executive. He cited track limits as an example, every time it is different and sometimes after the free practice sessions on Friday it is decided that different rules apply in the two days after.

Horner happy with Wednesday

About the performance of the RB18 Horner is in any case pleased. He calls the performance of Max Verstappen at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya 'very encouraging' for the time being.
