Alonso's classic F1 car doesn't bring in the expected amount

At the beginning of this month, Fernando Alonso's 2004 Renault chassis was auctioned off. The car brought in a lot of money, but the amount was still not as high as expected.
The R24-07 was expected to fetch £385,000, but in the end it was auctioned for "only" £217,808. The auction took place at RM Sotheby's in Paris, complete with the same steering wheel as the original model and the legendary blue and yellow livery.
Special car
The Renault was the car in which Alonso drove the last three rounds of the 2004 Formula One Championship, namely China, Japan and Brazil. He achieved two fourth places and one fifth place with his car. The Spaniard finished in fourth place in the championship, but managed a nice third place in the Constructors' Championship with teammate Jarno Trulli. The car was the predecessor of the R25, with which Alonso became world champion.
During the auction, other classic vehicles could also be bid on, such as an Alfa Romeo 155 V6 and several Ferraris. The winner of the auction now has a beautiful collector's item in his hands.
