Max Verstappen has been driving in Formula 1 since 2015, and especially in recent years the still only 24-year-old Dutchman earned tens of millions thanks to his contract with Red Bull Racing. Sports marketer Chris Woerts expresses the expectation that Verstappen will become the first sports billionaire of the Netherlands.

Halfway through last year Quote wrote that the fortune of Verstappen almost hit the hundred million euro mark. After his world title last season he will have passed that amount by now. Woerts thinks that towards the end of his career Verstappen has a fortune of more than one billion euros.

Relatively few expenses

Verstappen is a resident of Monaco, which provides tax advantages."He pays little tax I estimate, and he has a pretty frugal lifestyle. He doesn't do anything crazy," Woerts sums up in conversation with Formula 1 Magazine. The money is flowing in, but it is not going out very quickly. With manager Raymond Vermeulen and father Jos Verstappen Max has two good figures behind him, because they make sure he keeps both feet on the ground.

Woerts further informs the Dutch medium that he doesn't think Verstappen will necessarily want to make the most of the next contract negotiations at Red Bull. Currently, Verstappen would be on the payroll for around 35 to 40 million euros. Helmut Marko recently revealed that there will not be a great deal of margin up front either.

Sponsorship money from Verstappen

Verstappen not only receives money from his employer Red Bull, but also from sponsors like CarNext, Jumbo and G-Star. Yet that's only a very small portion of the money Verstappen gets credited with each year. Forbes reported last year that three percent of the Limburger's income consists of all his sponsorship deals. It is likely that that percentage will increase further in 2022 after his world title.
