There have been several incidents involving Max Verstappen this season. Many of them were with his title rival Lewis Hamilton, but during the GP of Hungary, the Dutchman was almost eliminated by an action of Valtteri Bottas. Christian Horner talks about the unfair treatment of the Dutchman.

"In some cases Max has been treated unfairly. He feels aggrieved by that. Max is being watched and the spotlight is on him. He is competing against a seven-time world champion," Horner told the press conference broadcast by Sky Sports.

The FIA has already indicated that they will deduct points for unsportsmanlike conduct to ensure that the title fight is not decided by an incident. After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Verstappen received a lot of criticism for his fierce defensive actions. Horner thinks the accusations about his driving style are unjustified.

Max would have been sitting here as champion

"The accusations about his driving style are there to put pressure on Max, but we don't want him to change. His fire has brought more fans to F1." Verstappen has lost many points due to incidents with Hamilton and Bottas. Had this not happened, the title might have been decided in one of the previous races.

"You can always look at what if moments, like Silverstone and Budapest. Max would have been sitting here as champion if those incidents hadn't happened," said the Red Bull team boss.
