Marco Mattiacci will almost certainly return to
Formula 1. The former
Ferrari teamboss will join
Aston Martin, where he will be part of Lawrence Stroll's team in an advisory role.
The 50-year-old Mattiacci spent a year in charge of the
Ferrari team in 2014, where he was forced to leave early due to disappointing results. He then took on the role of brand boss at electric car company Faraday Future. At
Aston Martin, however, he returns to the highest level of motorsport.
His arrival at Aston Martin doesn't come as a surprise, as Mattiacci developed an excellent relationship with Lawrence Stroll at Ferrari. His son and current Aston Martin driver
Lance Stroll was part of the Ferrari Adacemy between 2010 and 2015. As an advisor, Mattiacci should be able to be of service to the Aston Martin team, reports
La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Difficult race in Bahrain
Besides Stroll,
Sebastian Vettel is also part of the Aston Martin team. The German had a difficult first race in Bahrain, finishing in fifteenth place. His team mate Stroll, on the other hand, did a little better, finishing in tenth place and securing his first point of the season.
