The coronavirus outbreak is filling hospitals quickly. With the virus attacking the lungs, the production of ventilators for support needs to increase. According to Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mercedes, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, McLaren and Williams have all been asked to build more ventilators.

Using the F1 teams' factories and technology, the government has asked if they can help the country stock up on these vital ventilators.

"Among the technologies, the teams could help develop are lung ventilators, needed to help the most seriously ill. Since the first races of the season have been postponed, the engineering departments of most teams will be under-used and therefore they can take action to research, develop and produce medical equipment that could help," the newspaper reports.

JCB have also been asked by the government to help with the ventilators.
