Perez meeting expectations at the moment from Horner: 'He did very well'
In Japan, Red Bull secured a 1-2 finish for the third time this season. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner is very pleased with this result and that of Sergio Perez in particular.
After a lacklustre race in Australia for Red Bull, the Austrian racing stable is back on top in Japan. Max Verstappen won the Grand Prix and Sergio Perez finished second. "A great team performance today," Horner told Viaplay after the race. ''Fastest lap, pole position, one-two finish, fastest pit stop, and leading first and second in both championships. It's been an amazing performance here, particularly in Japan at our engine partner, and it is great to see both the cars on the podium."
Horner satisfied with Perez's performance
Perez in particular has had quite a fluctuation in performance. This season, he has been pretty consistent. The Red Bull Racing team boss is therefore very pleased with his performance at the moment. "Checo has had a very strong weekend here, and his qualifying yesterday was good. Max [Verstappen] just controlled the race beautifully out the front, but Checo, with the one-stoppers, came back into the traffic, particularly with Lando stopping. Charles going on the one-stop. But his racing was fantastic. He came back through the field and did a very, very good job."
Perez is still without a contract for next year. So he must keep proving himself in order to stay with Red Bull Racing's team.
