Coronel brothers praise team: 'Heroes'

Brothers Tim and Tom Coronel were allowed and able to hit the road again today in the Dakar Rally, despite their heavy crash on Saturday. The two just got in and posted a Youtube video of the preliminary repairs.

"Yesterday, after a heavy crash, we were able to reach the bivouac where our top team was ready to prepare the car under pressure for the second part of today's marathon stage. Thanks to the team's experience and ability to improvise, we were able to continue our Dakar adventure. Heroes," Tom Coronel writes with the video.

The video shows how the car was impressively transformed from three wheels back to a car with four last night - plus all the other laborious repairs that came with it. "They can make it. They are quite fast and I think they will be fine," Tom says of his team.

Duct tape

The video could probably also be seen as a promotion for duct tape: after the repair, the car almost consists of more duct tape than other materials. We often see F1 teams use this to temporarily get a car running again, but it is apparently also good enough for the rough conditions of the Dakar Rally.
