The Bahrain Grand Prix is usually little surprising in terms of weather conditions. Something that could cause problems are sandstorms, which also now hang around the Bahrain International Circuit.

A Sky Sports video shows a sandstorm raging near the circuit. A lot of work will go into keeping the asphalt clean so that the drivers are not inconvenienced.

Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa is not too worried about the impending sandstorms, but acknowledges that the situation is somewhat unpredictable. "With the weather you never know exactly what is going to happen, but we are ready," says the CEO of the Bahrain International Circuit.

The winds are expected to increase on Thursday, but calm down over the weekend. So the chances are slim that the first Formula One race of the year will be hit by a sandstorm.
