Lando Norris, Valtteri Bottas, George Russell and Nicholas Latifi all had to deal with a leaky tyre at the Qatar Grand Prix. It caused anger among the drivers afterwards. For example, Norris said in conversation with Motorsport.com that the incident should never happen.

Although Norris was the only one of the four drivers still in the points, he was not happy about the outcome. "You don't expect your tyre to fail, especially when you're on the hard compound," he said. "We weren't even that far into the stint, about 20 laps I think. The tyre should be able to last much longer than 20 laps."

The Briton then emphasised the dangers that a puncture can bring. "If there had been a wall, it really could have been a lot more dangerous. They just need to make better tyres. It's dangerous for us as drivers. We risk our lives every time, but if we can't even just drive a Formula One car around the track, what can you do?"

Battle in world championship continues

His rival Charles Leclerc finished two places above him in Qatar, leaving Norris just one point ahead in the world championship. Daniel Ricciardo came no further than twelfth position.
