Max Verstappen will start Sunday afternoon's Dutch GP from the front position. The Dutchman drove a faster time than Lewis Hamilton, who starts the race from second place.

Qualifying got off to a promising start in Q1, as a number of big surprises immediately took place. Where among others Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo seemed to drop out immediately, in the end it was an impressive line-up who were not allowed to continue qualifying. Sergio Pérez, Sebastian Vettel, Robert Kubica, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin failed to finish in places sixteen through twenty.

In Q2, Verstappen did well by setting the fastest time on the board. However, race control halted qualifying four minutes before time due to a heavy crash by George Russell who lost balance with his car and drove backwards hard into the wall. After the race resumed, Nicholas Latifi did the same within a minute, ending Q2.

Verstappen showed his mettle in Q3 by setting the fastest time and securing first place for Sunday's race. Hamilton followed as second driver.
