Nikita Mazepin was forced to retire during the second free practice session due to a mistake in the corner. This gave Sky Sports the opportunity to talk to Christian Horner, who was happy with Verstappen.

The Red Bull Racing team boss spoke positively about the first day of racing. "We've not managed a single clear lap yet for Max. We might manage on this one, we'll see! This is the final run on the lower fuel level, before we put more fuel in. Probably a quick turn around after this and hopefully no red flags," Horner stated. "I think the corners we're struggling most at is 11 and 12. This seems to be the hardest part for us at the moment."

Horner knows what his team needs to work on in the coming days. "It's definitely high downforce but you need to be able to balance it. I would've thought there's a couple of tenths in there. You don't know what other teams are doing energy wise, performance wise but that's pretty decent."

Verstappen failed to set the fastest time during the first free practice. In the morning session he was second fastest, but a few hours later he was fifth fastest.
