Stefano Domenicali says he regrets the fact that no race could be held on Sunday, but the CEO of Formula 1 says that the sport itself will not compensate the fans who sat in the stands for hours for nothing.

For Formula 1 fans who travelled to Spa-Francorchamps it was a huge disappointment that there was no racing on Sunday. Of course Max Verstappen won the race in the end, but nobody was happy with the way he did it. Neither was Domenicali himself, who also denies that F1 was put under pressure by the organisation to drive those few laps.

Pressure on F1

''That is not true at all, because when we talk about racing, it is about responsibility. It is a clear process. These things are not connected. I am the first to be disappointed because I love racing,'' the Italian said according to Formel1.de.

''The message is clear that unfortunately, we are not in control of time. Two laps or no laps, the cost was there.'' Domenicali points directly to another party when it comes to refunding the tickets. ''We are not the ones who issue the tickets.'' However, Domenicali does speak of a ''consideration'' for the fans.
