Vettel enthusiastic: 'I was faster in these sections'

After the British Grand Prix Sebastiaan Vettel got to try the 18-inch tyres for the first time. The German was partly satisfied with what he got, although he also had some points of criticism.

Although Formula 1 is only halfway through the season, the teams and organisation are already busy preparing for the new season. Because of the many changes to the new cars, it will be even more difficult for the teams to get a good car on the track next season.

Criticism on the new tyres

As for the tyres, Vettel was satisfied for the time being, he told Auto, Motor und Sport. "With these tyres, you can drive longer on the limit without them overheating. They are more comfortable over the kerbs and offer more grip in low and medium-speed corners. In terms of feel, I was faster in these sections than with the conventional tires."

The four-time world champion also had some criticism to make. "The big wheels worsen the front view even more. There are also a lot of mirror mountings in the way. It was best when the mirrors were attached to the halo."
