Ahead of the final and all-important feature race in the Formula E season, the drivers started this morning with the first free practice session. In this session, it was Mercedes-driver Nyck de Vries who came out on top for the unprecedentedly exciting title battle that will finally find its resolution today.

With the top four all within six points of each other, the thrilling title battle in Formula E only got more exciting after Saturday. With a pole position and victory in the race any of the drivers in the top fourteen could theoretically still be crowned champion. Yet it was de Vries, leader in the championship, who showed himself the strongest in the first session of the day.

A time of 1:06:688 was enough to keep all competitors at bay in FP1. Of the top four only Jake Dennis came relatively close to the Mercedes driver, he clocked a fifth time. Robin Frijns was stuck in seventeenth, and Mortara had to settle for twelfth place.
