Max Verstappen did not have luck on his side in the last two races before the summer break. Twice he was the victim of a mistake made by another driver, but despite that Ralf Schumacher sees the Dutchman performing at his best.

After Verstappen ended up in the wall in Britain due to a tap from Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen had bad luck again in Hungary. At the start, he was hit by Lando Norris, who in turn was hit by Valtteri Bottas. A big mistake for the Finn, causing the Red Bull driver to finish the race with half a car.

Bad luck for Verstappen

''Max Verstappen has had two breakdowns now, but he has shown an incredible performance so far. Even when the Red Bull isn't running so well, he's getting the best out of the car. He has had to pass Hamilton now, but I don't think he will be outclassed in the second half of the season because he has matured by now,'' Schumacher said in his column for Sky Germany.

''You've seen that all season and it was badly needed. Lewis is obviously trying everything to upset him, but he has no chance with Max this year. For Red Bull, it will be important to concentrate on the essentials and not constantly react to Mercedes' distractions.''

Duel with Hamilton

With Hamilton now back in the lead of the championship, the battle between the two bantams of Mercedes and Red Bull Racing has only really intensified. In England, it became clear that neither driver will give an inch in the duels between them anymore, and that could provide a spectacle for the rest of the season.

''I don't think Lewis and Max would clash for the last time. The level will get harder as it gets closer in the World Cup. It's great for us as spectators, because we can look forward to mega exciting races'', concludes the former Formula One driver.
