Daniel Ricciardo is not experiencing an easy season at his new team McLaren. The Australian has to get used to the car and that is reflected in a number of results. Currently, the driver is eighth in the championship, while teammate Lando Norris is fourth with over 60 points more than Ricciardo.

The driver knows he has to accept that he won't be a five-time world champion again. In an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport Ricciardo answered the question if one title would be enough for him.

"Five is theoretically still possible, but one would be absolute madness. The title has always been my dream. But I never said I want to break Senna's records or win the most titles. I would be happy with one," he said. McLaren has made clear progress and with the new regulations next year, everything could change.

Sim racers Norris and Verstappen

Teammate Lando Norris is having a strong season, something that shouldn't be easy for Ricciardo. Norris is known for his love of sim racing, something the Australian doesn't share. Could this work to his disadvantage? "I've thought about it. In the beginning, I always said: I don't want to have a simulator at home, because I have something better to do in the free weekends."

"These virtual races have never excited me. But I don't want to be narrow-minded here either. Maybe it really is a help. That would be something to find out. It may be that you learn something along the way, but it may also be that you pick up bad habits. But Max [Verstappen], Lando [Norris], and Charles [Leclerc] are very active in that, and maybe that will help. It's still not my thing, but I'm not going to ignore it but I'll give it a try," Ricciardo said.
