Despite Mercedes not taking the win, Toto Wolff is satisfied with the Steiermark Grand Prix. The team also experimented with the set-up during FP1, which could help the team for the second race in Austria.

Happy with double podium

Lewis Hamilton was not fast enough to pose a serious threat to Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing at the Styrian GP. But with a second-place finish and a third-place finish from Valtteri Bottas, team boss Toto Wolff believes the team can look back on last Grand Prix with satisfaction.

"Last weekend, we maximised the opportunities available to us and despite not having the quickest car, took a solid double podium and a good haul of points," he writes in a statement from Mercedes. The Austrian speaks highly of the drivers and pit crew who performed well at the Styrian Grand Prix.

Trying new set-ups

According to Wolff, a second race at the Red Bull Ring offers opportunities. "We had an experimental Friday with the car set-up last weekend, and we hope to arrive to FP1 this weekend with the car in a happier place, ready to build from there."

Despite Red Bull winning the past four Grands Prix, Wolff and Mercedes are far from giving up: "There are many opportunities to come and it's still all to play for, so we're excited for round nine."
