The title fight between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing seems to get more and more exciting after each Grand Prix. After the Paul-Ricard race Red Bull could really be labelled as a title contender and it is now up to Mercedes to catch up with the Austrian team.

According to Toto Wolff, the two teams will continue to fight until the end of the season. "You can say that. It's so close together, the lead is constantly changing between practice sessions. Here (In Spielberg) Red Bull was a lot faster in the morning and we were in the afternoon," Wolff explained at Salzburger Nachrichten.

Every mistake is punished

The constructors' championship is very close, but the battle for the drivers' title is also exciting, especially between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. According to Wolff, those two drivers will also fight it out. "Verstappen and Lewis are already too far away. It's now a race between those two. The rest are fighting for the spots behind them, also in the battle for the constructors. These four cars are the fastest and at Le Castellet they were a minute ahead of the rest."

The fact that the differences between Red Bull and Mercedes are so small also indicates that any mistake can be punished. Wolff sees that too. "It's the mistakes that are going to bite. If the car is only good enough for P3 or P4, then you have to settle for that, but if the car is good, then you have to win. A mistake just costs a lot of points and that's what you have to avoid," Wolff concludes.
