Lewis Hamilton experienced a dramatic weekend in Monaco. A week ago, the Englishman was still leading the world championship, but during the street circuit, he couldn't get any further than a disappointing seventh position. That is why Max Verstappen is at the top of the championship for now.

Afterwards, the Englishman was very disappointed with the performance in the race and stated that he needed to have a good talk with his team, who he partially blamed for the problem. A few days later, however, the seven-time world champion told Motorsport.com that he is still fully behind his team.

"Throughout the weekend we've had good conversations, but from all of us it's not good enough," Hamilton, who saw his teammate Valtteri Bottas drop out, told. "We win and lose as a team, and as a collective, we haven't done well across the board."

Confidence in Mercedes

Hamilton argues that perseverance is the team's strength. "The reason we have all these titles is that we make a lot of mistakes but always learn from them and become stronger because of them. So I'm often grateful for dramatic days like that because that's where you learn the most. If you always win, you learn less. We can take a lot away from this weekend."
