Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have battled each other every race so far in 2021, and once again there was a fight in the first corner. The Dutchman was able to take the lead right at the first corner, which Renger van der Zande and Robert Doornbos enjoyed.

''It's still his best season to date, but Max Verstappen just got beat today on strategy. You choose that strategy in the morning, and with that start Verstappen had the perfect opening of the race, because then you can drive in the clean air'', said Doornbos after the race at Ziggo Sport.

Verstappen comes up just short

Besides the former Formula 1 driver, Van der Zande also saw that Verstappen could have done little else in Barcelona. The best car simply won today. If you see how close Hamilton could stay behind Verstappen, then you simply have the better car.''

Still, Verstappen was leading the Grand Prix for a long time, and he had that to thank for a daring overtaking move at the first corner. ''That was very clever what he did, because he didn't even come out of Lewis' slipstream. Verstappen braked three four metres later. He is in Lewis' blind spot, he just doesn't know where he is'', concludes Doornbos about the clever overtaking action of the Dutchman.
