In 2015, Sebastian Vettel left Red Bull Racing to join the great Ferrari. In doing so, the German followed in the footsteps of Michael Schumacher. The seven-time world champion was a childhood hero for Vettel, but in the end he never achieved the same success. That was Ferrari's goal in 2015.

"Of course you are disappointed in the first place that you have not achieved that goal. In the end, you can deal with it in two ways. It can destroy you, or you can learn from it and come back stronger. The first option is not even a possibility for me. I always look ahead and strongly believe that somehow it will always go on," explains Vettel in an interview with Frankfurter Rundschau.

Schumacher as an example

That is what Vettel learned in his five years at Ferrari. "Sometimes you can't change things that are influenced from the outside. What is especially important is how you deal with them. That you remain positive about the future in spite of everything," because Vettel had a hard time in his last year in red.

The dream of emulating Schumacher may never have been achieved, but Vettel is still looking to his idol. "Because he always managed to go faster with the red car than the rest and he always managed to get the most out of every race, for several years. In sport, this means being extremely reliable. He later confirmed that to me when I met him. He always stood by what he said," concludes Vettel.
