After his podium in Mugello in Russia, Alexander Albon was put back on his feet for a while. The Thai had to make do with a tenth place and the accompanying criticism. How does Albon view the coming weekend at the Nürburgring?

Relaxing Albon

Albon has been under fire as a Red Bull Racing driver all season long. On average the Thai loses more than half a second per qualifying session to Max Verstappen and was even more than a second too slow in Russia. The Red Bull driver has therefore spent the week off well by clearing his head.

''I didn't do much with the free time because the weather hasn't been great in the UK. I just stayed at home, relaxed and with my family, but I did go karting on Saturday. It was a lot of fun racing in the rain on slippery tyres in rental karts,'' Albon said in the Red Bull preview.

Departure from Honda

''The Nürburgring is a really cool circuit and I raced there in Formula Renault and F3. It has its own unique character with some really cool, high speed corners that are always fun for a driver. I think it will be very fast this year, but the weather will also be bad, so I will be surprised if it is dry at all. I think we should expect some really cold wet weather, so it will be important to put the lap on the clock''.

Last week the departure of Honda was announced and that was a disappointment for Albon. ''It is a pity that Honda is leaving the sport because I really enjoyed working with them, they are a great group of people. For my part, nothing will change on the course to the race weekend. As a driver we are focused on the work and make sure that we finish our partnership with Honda as strong as possible'', concludes Albon.
