Last week it was announced that a positive test for the coronavirus within the F1 paddock was performed in Hungary. The first traces of the coronavirus have already been affected, although it seems that there was no outbreak at the Hungaroring. Formula 1 will race in Silverstone and Barcelona for the next three weeks, although that last race seems to become uncertain due to the same coronavirus.

Auto, Motor und Sport knows that Formula 1 is worried about the situation in Catalonia. There are several regional outbreaks in the area and the Circuit de Catalunya is located in the middle of the province. In one week the Formula 1 should have clarity. If the risk is too great, they have a number of alternatives to organise a Grand Prix at another location.

Three races at Silverstone

The most obvious alternative, according to AMuS, is to hold a third race at Silverstone. After all, all parts and team members are already at Silverstone. This also reduces the risk of contamination, as there is no need to travel to another country. The circuit also has several layouts that can be used.

Another circuit is also an alternative, although a decision has to be made quickly. Hockenheim is one of those alternatives, but this needs to be announced at least three weeks in advance. That is the time to prepare the infrastructure for a race. Other circuits are also in the race for a possible Grand Prix, but the alternative to hold a third race at Silverstone seems to be preferable.
