Lando Norris had some back pain during the second Grand Prix of the season and that caused some anxious reactions. Looking back on last weekend, Norris says it is due to the fact that he hasn't driven a Formula 1 car for so long, but that he feels better now.

Research by specialist

To drive the second race without suffering too much from his back, Norris took painkillers and after the race he flew to the UK to be examined by a specialist. This showed that the pain was caused by some bruising because he didn't drive an F1 car for that long.

At Motorsport Norris says: "We diagnosed pretty much what the problem was. And I'm feeling better. It's not something that is going to heal completely overnight, but I'm much better than what I was last weekend, so that's a good thing." However, it hasn't completely healed yet, so it might well play up again this weekend. In that case it's good for Norris that there will be a break after next weekend.

Not to be prepared for

"It wasn't something I could really prepare for or know about until after we did the first weekend, obviously having a few days off in between. It then hit my body a few days later and I was just a bit bruised and so on."

He adjusted the seat and steering position in the car after the first Grand Prix, because his body had changed a bit during the lockdown, which also played a role in this. This could be both a solution and an additional cause. But with more races his body will get used to it again, so it seems mainly a matter of time.
