After two races in Austria we arrived this weekend in Hungary for the third Grand Prix of the 2020 season. The Hungaroring is the scene of the last race in the triple-header after which the teams and drivers will have a break for a week. The championship will continue on August 2nd with a race at Silverstone. The race weekend is about to start with the first free practice and in this live blog we will keep you informed with all the action.

Circuit lies Red Bull Racing better

In the first race, Max Verstappen did not run as anticipated. The Dutchman dropped out with a technical problem, but in the second race that seemed to be solved. Mercedes also suffered from bumps and managed to solve it and in Steiermark the silver arrows turned out to be too fast for the RB16 of Verstappen.

The circuit in Hungary is, in theory, better for the Red Bull and so Verstappen and Albon have a better chance of a podium finish. Theory and practice, however, are different, so whether it will actually turn out this way we will see on Sunday. But it’s bound to be an exciting race, especially between Red Bull Racing and Mercedes. In the first practice session, we will see the first show of strength and if it is infact a different team who challenges Mercedes.

The midfield

The first two races have already shown that Racing Point, McLaren and Renault are relatively close to each other and with another circuit, on the program we will see even better who seems to have the strongest material. A special case is Ferrari because where Leclerc finished on the podium in the first race, Ferrari was nowhere in qualifying for the second race in Austria.

For the Scuderia, after last weekend's double failure, it is now a matter of achieving real success, the criticisms of the team are not soft. Binotto, the team and the drivers are under pressure. A Ferrari that can't make it to the top is unreal. But with a new circuit the cards are different, so who knows, maybe Vettel and Leclerc can come along now.
