In recent days, a competition took place between all kinds of icons from Formula 1, in order to determine the most influential person in the history of the sport. Names like Fangio, Senna, Hamilton, Stewart and more passed by. Many of the names were a bit obvious, but the mention of Max Verstappen was quite special. After all, he was among the biggest names in the sport.

Most influential person

Verstappen took on Jackie Stewart in the competition and fell right off. The Englishman has championships to his name where Verstappen does not (yet) have that. Now a few days later the last 'fight' has been fought and we know who the winner is. According to the election Michael Schumacher is the most influential person in Formula 1 history.

He took on Bernie Ecclestone, the former owner of Formula 1 who was at the head of the sport for many years, in the final round. Schumacher, however, has been chosen by the fans as the winner of the competition, Formula1.com writes. He beat Ecclestone with almost two thirds of the votes: 61 against 39 percent.

Schumacher beat Niki Lauda in the first round with 56 against 44 percent of the votes. In the second round it was a narrow victory over Senna with 52 against 48 percent, in the third round 72 against 28 percent with the opponent Fangio and in the semifinals Schumacher beat Enzo Ferrari with 54 against 46 percent.
