Christian Horner expects that Formula 1 will come out of the current circuit well. Due to the coronavirus, many teams have had to take financial measures, because otherwise they would run into money problems. The team boss of Red Bull Racing sees that F1 is struggling, but he also thinks that F1 has the current people, to get well out of the crisis.

"There's a lot going on behind the scenes right now to protect the future. Of course, they were already working on making F1 more sustainable," Horner explains to Motorsport.com. "In these difficult times you have to think 'out of the box' and I expect F1 has really had to do this in recent times. What comes out of that will certainly affect the future".

F1 has experience with a crisis

According to Horner, this is not the first time that the sport is in crisis. "F1 also had a difficult time in the financial crisis of 2008, or the tyre crisis between Bridgestone and Michelin. Of course, you can't prepare for these kinds of events, but you can apply the knowledge of the past to act better in the crisis".

There are many people who were in F1 in that period, and Horner thinks that those people can make the right decision. "Ross Brawn has been through a crisis several times while he was in F1. Jean Todt also knows very well how to deal with such events. It is important that people with a lot of experience in F1 now get up and take the lead", concludes Horner.
