Mercedes auctions race overalls drivers, remarkable difference in value

Mercedes is busy supporting care in the UK. Earlier they announced that they had produced 10,000 respirators, and now they have a new idea to support even more in the fight against the coronavirus. The race overalls of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas go under the hammer.

The suits, worn by the drivers last season, will go under the virtual hammer on the online auction site Bonhams Auctioneers. Mercedes has already produced 10,000 respirators for the NHS (National Health Service). Now they have decided to also raise money for charity.

Big difference in value of the suits

According to Crash.net, there's a difference between the value of both suits. It is expected that a worn Hamilton racing suit will yield almost 3000 pounds. This compared to Bottas' racing suit, which would 'only' be worth 800 pounds. Together with all established teams in the UK, Mercedes has set up the Pitlane Project to support care.

It's not just Mercedes that has already supplied equipment to the care sector. Ferrari has already announced that it is in the process of producing mouthpieces and other tools for care workers. In Italy the problem around COVID-19 is much bigger than in the UK. By using the factories for the coronavirus, the F1 teams hope to take the pressure off care.
