Now that the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has also been officially postponed, Formula 1 fans will have to wait even longer for the start of the season. The coronavirus is causing major problems in the world and that also affects the sport.

There's racing to be done in Austria

After the race in Melbourne was cancelled at the last minute, F1 is currently a little faster to postpone the other races. The Grands Prix of Bahrain, China, Vietnam, the Netherlands and Spain have already been postponed and the Grands Prix of Monaco has even been cancelled. One race has to continue in any case, according to Helmut Marko.

The top man of Red Bull Racing has been able to celebrate victories of Max Verstappen in his own country over the past two seasons and that has to happen again this year. ''The Austrian Grand Prix must continue. All our marketing activities will start in mid-May, so that race has to take place by then'', says Marko in conversation with Sport 24.

Goal remains the same for Red Bull

Race after race is postponed and also the rules originally intended for 2021 are now postponed to 2022. ''That makes sense of course, because teams now have much less income due to the lack of races and we can't put another 100 million in the development of a new car. Freezing the regulations will save a lot of costs''.

For Marko nothing changes in the target for the coming season or the year after. ''It is and remains our goal to fight with Max for the world title this season and also the coming years'', the Austrian concludes. The Austrian GP does come close to the line of cancelled Grands Prix. Canada is at a standstill and Austria only has France in front of it.
