Sebastian Vettel believes there isn't a specific reason why Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc is so dominant in qualifying over the four-time world champion at the moment.

Leclerc recorded his fourth consecutive pole position for the Russian Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon. The Monegasque driver equalled a Ferrari record, becoming the first Scuderia driver since Michael Schumacher in 2001, to record four consecutive poles.

The 21-year-old driver, who is only in his second season of Formula 1, has finished above his experienced team-mate nine times in a row in qualifying, but Vettel doesn't believe there is a significant factor behind his recent dominance.

"Obviously in qualy here and there we didn't have the best sessions on my side," Vettel said to Motorsport.com. "I think obviously today Charles was faster, so it's pretty easy to see where he's faster, but it's a little bit here and there.

"I don't think there's any pattern standing out saying that he's always faster in the same type of corners. As I said, obviously the last couple of races was closer than maybe it looked on the result, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

"Usually come race day, I'm getting more and more confident in the car, and pace has never been a problem in the race."
