With the season over halfway to completion the window for teams to bring upgrades is becoming smaller and smaller if they want to avoid penalties. When is the best time for teams to introduce a new engine?

Mercedes confirmed on Thursday that they would bring a new spec engine to the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, a move which is expected to only make them harder to catch as the other teams trail in their wake.

The race at Spa is seen as one of Ferrari's best opportunity for them to win a race this season as they chase an elusive first Grand Prix win since Kimi Raikkonen won in the USA last season. So why not bring an upgrade?

F1 analyst Albert Fabrega has shared the news via his Twitter channel, but no clear reason is given as to why the Scuderia will not bring an upgrade.

Rumours have circulated that the engines were sent back to the factory in Maranello because of reliability issues or alternatively they could be targeting a big weekend at their home Grand Prix at Monza.

With several teams making their moves in regards to their engines Ferrari are keeping their cards close to their chest and it will be seen as to what strategy they deploy.
