Max Verstappen has been reflecting on his drama-filled German Grand Prix win, which saw seven retirements, describing it as "one of the most difficult races".

Verstappen overcame a difficult start and a spin of his own to win his second race in three Grand Prix. The result saw him close the gap to Valtteri Bottas to 22 points in the Drivers' Championship.

The race was affected by difficult weather conditions, and it saw seven retirees including Verstappen's teammate, Pierre Gasly. Despite the victory the Dutchman faced his own adversities and he admitted it was one of his hardest races.

"Germany was one of the craziest and most difficult races for me, but it was great to be able to win it," Verstappen said as quoted by Formula Passion.

"We all worked really well together and it's incredible that the guys got a new world record during my tire change, in one day we had to do a lot of pit stops."

Verstappen also previewed the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix and he picked out his favourite corner, adding: "I like the Hungaroring, it's one of my favorite tracks and I can't wait to go back this year.

"My favourite curve is the 11, the curve to the right is fast, and it's a good feeling when you can do it well. Even a good exit from the last corner is very important as the straight is very long and you have to bring in a good speed "
