Red Bull Racing junior Daniel Ticktum was happy with the way he performed during the testing days in Barcelona this week, with the 19-year-old getting "positive vibes" from the Bulls in his second-ever outing in an F1 car.

Ticktum finished second to Mick Schumacher in Formula 3 last season, meaning he didn't have enough points on his F1 super licence to compete in Formula 1. The youngster now competes in the Super Formula, where he hopes to get more experience under his belt before a potential F1 call-up.

During testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, Ticktum only finished 10th on the timesheets, but he was still happy with his performance, which wasn't based around one-lap pace.

“I want them [Red Bull] to be happy,” the young Brit told Crash.net.

“The vibe I'm getting at the moment is positive, I would say. Usually quite good at judging if I've done a good or bad job or not.

“But yeah, I'll probably get some more feedback later on after they've had a look at everything. But I think overall at the moment, everyone's happy.

“Overall, it went pretty good I think. For me it's obviously only my second full day in a modern F1 car, so still getting a bit up to speed.

“Obviously the team have got a plan that I try to stick to as best I could, and I think they're happy with the data that I've got.

“We had a bit of an issue which cost us a few hours, but the running that we did get done was positive. So I think for the team data-wise, they've got a lot of what they wanted.”

Ticktum is regarded as one of the biggest talents in motorsport, and many believe it will only be a matter of time before he makes his promotion to Formula 1. Until, however, he will continue his season in the Super Formula.
