Vettel: Ferrari not the favourites in 2019 anymore

Sebastian Vettel has admitted that Ferrari is no longer the favourites for the 2019 season despite dominating pre-season testing. 

Since the two-week test in Spain before the season, the Italian outfit has struggled to replicate the pace it showed throughout pre-season and Mercedes has gone on to dominate proceedings so far this season.

After another disappointing result for the team and another Mercedes one-two, Vettel says the team cannot be considered the favourites as F1 heads back to Barcelona for the race in two weeks time.

"We are not the favourites going to Barcelona," he told the media after the race.

"Obviously the last four races on average we were not quite there. There's still plenty of work for us to do, obviously we were not quite where we want to be. At this point I think we just need to maximise what we can.

"The team is in good spirits. We have another couple of upgrades to get on the car. We need to chase them down.

"We are looking forward hopefully to a smooth weekend. Our first four weekends haven't been that smooth, but it will be crucial to catch them and turn the things around."
