The W Series has announced its 18-strong line-up for the first ever season of the all-female racing series.

The reward for winning the competition is $500,000 from a $1.5 million pot for the winner, with the series hoping to offer more exposure to female drivers.

Tatiana Calderon will become the first woman to race in Formula 2 this year, but its predecessor, GP2, has never had a female driver in over 10 years of the series existing.

The W Series has received mass interest from drivers from all over the globe and the numbers have now been crunched down to reveal an 18-woman line-up for the debut campaign of the competition.

Included in that line-up is British driver Jamie Chadwick, who in 2018, made history - becoming the first ever female driver to win a race in British Formula 3.

Beitske Visser and Alice Powell have both driven in GP3 in the past and also have titles in Formula Renault, with Vicky Piria also having some GP3 experience to rely on.
